What We Do

We have groups in the following areas:

  • Matlock
  • Darley Dale
  • Wirksworth
  • Ashbourne
  • Crich
  • Lea and Holloway
  • Osmaston and Brailsford
  • Biggin and Hartington
  • Derbyshire Dales (satellite group)

We look after more than 800 young people within these groups.

These groups manage their own meetings, activities, camps and adventures within the weekly meetings and also some weekends.  The activities undertaken are often adventurous, but are sometimes the mundane – all to give these people skills for life!

Leaders are volunteers who give their time up to be trained and developed into the wonderful leaders and helpers they are, and allow us to form such amazing community groups within the Derbyshire Dales. They are amazing people!!!

Every group has a group leader and an executive committee to oversee the management of funds and the running of the group. District Teams are here to support the groups and offer help and advice when required. There is also a District Executive Committee who overseas all of the above – all volunteers.

We sometimes have a waiting list in groups, due to the popularity of our section meetings and as a result always ask parents to take on the ‘4 week challenge’. If you are considering sending your child to a group – don’t delay!
